Firstly thank you so much for a GREAT plugin! Love this sooo much. I tried to submit this at the feature request area but it was broken, kept telling me to log in.
I have a few suggestions that I think would make it even better:
- A Terms And Conditions insert. Similar to your privacy policy insert at the moment. Something very general that can apply to all types of websites. This helps webmasters from potential law suits for providing information, etc.
- A “Exclude on Pages” option for Manage Ads. A tick selection box, similar to your current “Exclude on Home page” and “Exclude on Archives” options at the moment. This would save the need for opening the search box and manually selecting the pages, as is needed at the moment.
- A more exciting name! This plugin can do so much and is very convenient, but the name has more to be desired. I sexy name would help extremely with your marketing of this plugin.
@ben : Thanks for sharing your suggestions. I have released an update for the plugin with a terms and conditions page functionality. Exclude on pages functionality is in my list of updates to the plugin and should be available in the next version. As far as the name change goes; I used this name when I released version 1.0 of the plugin with just 4 options ie : to insert ad above/below/to the left/right of the content. At the time Wp-Insert seemed like an ideal name. Now the plugin has grown considerably but still the name change is not a viable option as many people just search for wp-insert in the plugin installation screen to install the plugin and with a name change wp-insert wont show up in the searches as well as there are a lots of links to the plugin page on wordpress repository which will also become invalid after the name change.
I am getting an error “options not found” when I save because on wordpressMU the options page is at wp-admin/wpmu-options.php and not /wp-admin/options.php
To show the ad widgets you just have to drag and drop the widgets into the respective widget area using wordpress widget management page. If your theme is not widget enabled you can use the template ads which you can paste anywhere in your theme. Sidebar are usually coded in the file sidebar.php but its upto the theme author to decide where to place the actual sidebar code.

Q: Can you add an option to ‘WP-Insert’ to limit the number of ads posted per page? So, for example, if I only wanted the 1st post to display an add, the ad Qty/Page option would be set to “1″.
Note: I just switched from ‘All in One Adsense-YP’ plug-in because of pains/formatting issues with home and archive pages causing page layout to become distorted.

Thanks for the nice plugin. But I have a little problem. I have the Sociable plugin at the bottom of the post and I want to add an affiliate link using WP-Insert at the bottom of the post too. The problem is WP-insert is placing the AD (link text) below the Social bookmarking icons displayed by the Sociable plugin which something i don’t want.
Is there a way to move it above the social bookmarking icons and just below the post.
You can use the styling part to position the AD away from the Bookmarking icons. Try adding a “clear: both” to the styling section and see if it works..You will need to know a bit of CSS to do this correctly..
When I was testing WP-Insert on my test site I had the option of using 3 ads rotating in each position. I installed WP-Insert on my regular site and while setting it up, I see only one box for each ad location instead of the 3. Have I done something? How do I go back to a rotating set of ads?
@ Jason : You have to select “All Ad Networks” from the drop down in the “multiple Ad Networks” Section in the top of the manage ads page to see the 3 boxes for rotating the Ads
When I use the Image Edit/Insert option of the FCK editor, I can not browse the Media library or upload a file. When I open the Medial Library I get the message: “The server didn’t reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration.”
But if I use the standard built in WordPress editor, I can browse the Media Library and upload files.
Is this a configuration issue for me or is there some issue with WP-Insert 1.7.2 and WordPress 3.0.1?
@ Robert : I was in the process of integrating FCKEditor completely with wordpress when they abandoned the whole project and moved to CKEditor. In a future version I will be switching over to CKEditor and continue my work with proper integration.

I get the donation section at the top and then no menus below … so I can’t change / add or remove the current content the plugin is serving on my site.

@Tim : The issues are because of conflict with another plugin. Please wait for Version 2.0 for a permanent solution to the bug. The plugin will also be 300 times faster and much more efficient than what it is now.
Hello, thanks for the great plug in. Sometimes my ads are not appearing and all the time they are not in the locations I specified. For example I set up adsense to appear to the left of my post, it’s appearing above the post on my homepage. On my blog page I have the same problem.
@Paul : You might be using an unconventional theme on your site..In such a case you will have to utilize the styles section to modify the CSS styles used to position the ads for it to work correctly…The default settings works for 99% of the themes out there and the styles options is for the rest 1%.
I just installed the plugin in a new site and I can’t get any option bars to expand. It works ok on my other site. Any idea what is causing this and how to resolve?
Maybe for a upcoming release you could look at MU options?
The idea of running ads on sub blogs with all options being in the super admin menu would be nice. maybe also have an enable and disable button under the sites list to run ads on said sub blog or not (paid or other type of membership vs free site) I have started to use your plugin on a few of my sites. I must say its the best ad plugin out there. Just lacking the MU options and I hate hacking up a great plugin.

Yes, I’m saving changes each time and I even let it sit overnight to give it time to kick in. Still, it doesn’t seem to be working.
The theme has to be standards compliant for the feature to work..It must have valid call to the functions wp_footer and wp_header in appropriate location in the theme for the plugin to work correctly..

I cant comment on this without looking into the admin end of your site. I am sure its not an issue with Wp-Insert, may be there is a conflict or javascript error in your theme preventing the ads from rendering..

I hope you can help me here. Every time I install this WP-insert plugin I get the following two errors/warnings on the top portion of my wp-admin dashboard. Then the whole wp dahsboard get buggy as heck.

Thanks for the update! I searched for a new ad plugin last night when i discovered that wp-insert was breaking my dashboard with WordPress 3.2. I found something else that worked OK, but lacked the ability to exclude the ad widget from certain pages. I’m happy to be back with wp-insert today. Great plugin!
I am having a problem with the plugin on my website http://www.goldeconomy.org . I have it installed on several other sites and never had an issue, it is my favorite plugin which I use on all my installs, however this time around, after I installed, I am unable to click open any of the option, i.e i click on any of the tabs and nothing happens instead of opening the dropdown where I could insert the ad code?
Try deactivating other plugins one by one until the menu becomes visible….This is due to some other plugins causing JavaScript errors….You can even reactivate the other plugin once you are done setting up the ads if the plugin is important..
I am only seeing ad widgets #1-#5 in the available widgets area on none in he inactive widget area. I have 8 wp-insert ad widgets configured correctly and need to insert all 8 into General Sidebar.
How can I get all wp-insert ad widgets to show in available widget area?
I’m using Atahualpa on my site, and have been using wp-insert for quite awhile with no problems whatsoever. I just updated Atahualpa to version 3.6.7, and now the ads have all disappeared. Nothing I do gets them to show up. They are all still in the ad boxes which are all active, and I’ve clicked “save changes”, although I didn’t make any changes. I’m on WordPress 3.2.1, btw.
Any idea why my ads are not showing on my site anymore?

Only the first 100 posts and pages are shown in the select popup for performance reasons….For pages which are not in the popup you can add their page ids directly to the comma separated list to the left of the popup button…

Wp-insert is compatible with WP3.0RC. Once it comes out the plugin should be compatible with the multi-site setup too.
How can I pevent an ad to show up in an entire catagory.
As of now there is no option to do that. You will have to manually exclude each posts

Actually I tried to switch to a different theme and I’m still having the same problem. The Post to left of content is still posting above the content.

I excluded to show the ad in archive page.

I figured it out. There is a conflict with AVG Safe Search add-on. You have to disable that for the bar expands to work.

Wp-Insert is currently not supported in RTL mode. It works find in LTR mode though

Never mind. Found it
I had two extra spaces behind the ?> in the php file.
No idea how the heck that happened but it happened in the functions.php, tanc.php and wp-insert.php files.

Not working with wordpress 3.2. It makes wp-admin area disappeared from dashboard
WP-Insert breaks the sidebar in the dashboard of WordPress 3.2.

If you don’t see the issues fixed after upgrading, your site is loading from the cache…Press CRTL + F5 to hard refresh the browser…
I have done the delete folder/reinstall update and am still not getting the admin bar in WP 3.2. If i deactivate WP-insert it comes back.

If the admin section looks garbled even after updating. Clear your browser cache and try again.
I upgraded to WP 3.2 on a secondary site before I read about the issue with WP-insert. So I lost my sidebar completely. This was yesterday.
Just upgraded and regained my sidebar, but it looks hideous.
