Wp-Insert is no longer in the plugin repository

Wp-Insert doesn’t seem to be showing up in the search results in the plugin installation page after the WordPress 3.0.2 update.

I don’t have any clue about whats going on!

I have written to WordPress mentioning the issue but haven’t received a reply yet. I will post an update here as soon as I know whats going on.

Meanwhile you should be able to download the plugin from the repository link : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-insert/ and upload it using the plugin upload page.

[UPDATE] : Wp-Insert rivals most premium plugins while being a FREE GPL plugin. A lot of time and effort has gone into development ad maintainance of Wp-Insert. Wp-Insert has got around $200 in donations out of which $90 was donated by the user Mary in October. The ads in the plugin admin page has earned $1.75 to date. The figures should you the economics of free plugin development. If the plugin doesn’t get exposure at the repository new users wont be able to find the plugin and existing users wont be able to update or install it easily. This will slowly erode the user base as i don’t have the capital to invest in any kind of marketing activity.

Share your views on how to let users know about a plugin in case it was not hosted on wordpress.org and whether the enormous development effort required justifies the case without enough users. Should development on Wp-Insert to continue and why? Share your views..

[UPDATE] : I just got a mail from wordpress.org mentioning the following -  “there is a problem with the search on the Plugins directory. Nothing has been withdrawn. We are trying to get this fixed”.  Hope everything gets fixed soon.

    Not only is it not in the repository it has ceased working on all my sites. It is still in the plugins section and it’s own section. However, you can not make any changes nor up date the adwidgets sections. It is however still on the site and shows the widgets and google ads

    I just found one of my web sites that has wp-insert 1.71. This version works fine. So it must be version 1.72 that is not being able to be edited. Please see comment added before this one.

    When I created a new WP site this week I discovered I couldn’t find wp-insert. I went straight to the site to get it as this is a truly brilliant plugin.

    I have instaled manual wp-insert on kaoscjdewe.com with theme shopperpress and always error cant send header. after i deactive and deleted, its normal again.
    thats error on fuction privacy policy.
    but worked with WTB theme, Bizmaniac theme, you can see on my web.

    The wordpress site isn’t linking and neither is anything else. Your plug in seems to have disappeared…..

    Wish it hadn’t because it looks really cool….but wordpress can’t find it and everything else give a 404.

    Great plugin! This is a really nice find.

    I tried searching it at the repository and nothing came up. I was happy to have found your site. I do hope things will work out soon with having the plugin in the wordpress.org listing. If it takes too long.. you may consider uploading it with a prefix or suffix or something. A lot of users may be missing out on this.

    I even used this to show my FTC Disclaimer on every post.

    As it stands now (not available, anywhere) I’m going to have to note this plugin as EOL, and find something else to use.

      I am helpless in this case.

      If the moderators of a repository decide to remove a developers work out of the blue with no warning and decides not to give any explanation on what happened legit developers wont stay put with the team.

      A huge majority of plugins in the repository are just adware crap and the moderators decide to remove a plugin which has a huge user base and is highly functional..

      Until I receive a response from Wordpess plugin repository moderators I cant continue work on the plugin.

      The plugin is tested on WP3.1.3. The errors are because of uploading plugin files in ascii mode on your FTP software..Try installing via WordPress admin from the plugin directory..
